Tomato Sauce Recipe
Never buy jar sauce again!
Recipe Review
This is my base recipe. I haven’t bought jar sauce in forever. I started making my own because I had to blend the fancy jar sauces because my husband hates chunks of tomato. I just figured I might as well try making my own. I love using fresh herbs in the summer. I have even used tomatoes from my garden and canned the sauce to be used in the winter!
I use two cans of tomatoes because I like to simmer them for as long as possible. Add as much garlic as your heart desires. The onion is cut in two and removed before serving because it gives the onion taste, but I don’t have to hear my child complain. The sugar cuts the acidity of the tomatoes and creates an overall more balanced sauce. My Mema’s sauce was always very sweet so I like to think of her every time I add it to my sauce.
Don’t be afraid to make this recipe your own by altering the herb ammounts.
