Recipe Tips and Notes

  • Fresh Salsa in less than 30 minutes!
  • Use fresh limes or bottled lime juice.
  • I trim the raw onion and cut it into two. I let the food processor do the rest. To get larger chunks of onion, save half and add towards the end. We use white onions, but don’t be afraid to use red or yellow.
  • I love garlic! If you are not a huge garlic fan, cut the garlic down to 3 cloves.
  • Same with fresh cilantro; adjust depending on personal taste.
  • We use canned whole tomatoes and fire-roasted tomatoes, but we can’t wait to try them with fresh garden Roma tomatoes this summer.
  • Use an entire jalapeno for extra heat. Less if you want a mild salsa. I let the food processor do the copping. The canned green chilies will give it just enough but still keep it mild.
  • Before serving, grab a couple of tortilla chips and give your salsa a final taste. Adjust the seasoning to your liking—more lime for a zing, a pinch more salt, or an extra dash of cumin for depth.
